Who are you?
My name is Ash Fischer. I am a 24 year old designer/maker and founder of Fisch Designs working out of a shared workshop in Marrickville, Sydney.
What do you do?
I currently design & make bespoke homeware objects such as lamps, ashtrays and mirrors. The future goal is to build an extensive design portfolio whether that be my own objects or to be invited to collaborate with different designers/companies. I strangely won't feel legitimate until I have designed a chair, just because I believe the chair is the true test of someone's design capabilities.
What is the most courageous/scary thing you've done?
Who do you admire and why?
I'm a big fan of the American artist Frosty Myers just because I feel like he was the first to blur the border between art and furniture which is pretty incredible seeing as the time he was producing art was such an iconic era for design (mid-century). Also his lifestyle he led through the 60s-80s.
What is it about ArchiTeam that made you want to get involved?
I'm really interested in collaborating or designing for anyone really. Especially the freedom of such an open brief, the almost daunting thing about a trophy is the the endless form it can be. Let alone the winners being architects, the desire to make an object that they are impressed by and admire is super inviting to be a part of.
