Killcare Heights Escarpment House: Where Vision Meets Craftsmanship

Perched on the edge of an escarpment in Killcare Heights, NSW, the Killcare Heights Escarpment House by Matt Thitchener Architect is a masterpiece of modern luxury and environmental design. This three-bedroom beach house combines monumental forms with delicate detailing, featuring board-formed concrete ceilings, polished plaster walls, and the warmth of Shou Sugi Ban linings. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors capture sweeping ocean views, while passive solar principles and cross ventilation ensure year-round comfort.

A defining feature of this project is the custom wall cladding, crafted from Expression™ Interlocking Panels fully manufactured and supplied by No 1 Roofing and Building Supplies, using Bluescope Colorbond MATT Monument material. These panels were custom-designed in varying widths to bring the architect’s vision to life. The Expression™ system, with its signature shadow lines, creates a striking facade composition. Each panel was meticulously aligned to ensure the shadow lines flowed seamlessly across the structure, adding depth, texture, and a sense of rhythm to the design. The result is a facade that is both visually dynamic and timeless, perfectly complementing the home’s majestic setting.

This project was a true collaboration. Working closely with the installer, we at No.1 Roofing & Building Supplies embraced every challenge with precision and dedication. From custom manufacturing to on-site problem-solving, our team ensured millimeter-perfect execution, resulting in a flawless and enduring installation.
