ArchiTeam Board Elections Now Open

As some of you may know, after four years of dedicated service (two terms), Kalliopi Vakras and Delia Teschendorff will be stepping down from the ArchiTeam Board of Directors at this year’s Annual General Meeting. This creates two (2) open positions on the Board, and now it’s time to vote for their successors.

Voting Details:

Voting is now open to all ArchiTeam Cooperative shareholders, who each have one vote.
All current ArchiTeam shareholders will receive an email with an individual link to cast their vote.
Voting closes on Wednesday, 20 November, at 4pm.

Nominees

SAM PERVERSI-BROOKS

Perversi-Brooks Architects

Sam Perversi-Brooks brings a wealth of architectural expertise, leadership experience, and community commitment to ArchiTeam. With a Master of Architecture from RMIT University—where he earned awards for design excellence, including the Australian Institute of Architects Graduation Prize and the RMIT Anne Butler Medal—Sam has developed a strong foundation in both architectural theory and practice.

As a long-standing member of the ArchiTeam CPD Committee, Sam has been instrumental in organising continuing professional development (CPD) for members. He also leads the Tasmanian Members Only Forum Lunch (MOFL TAS), fostering an in-person forum for ArchiTeam members to discuss pressing topics and build camaraderie. Now based in Hobart after recently relocating from Melbourne, Sam is excited about expanding ArchiTeam's influence beyond Victoria and enhancing member engagement in Tasmania.

Sam’s vision for joining the ArchiTeam Board is twofold: to give back to the profession and community that has supported him and to pursue personal growth by stepping into a new leadership role. He sees this as an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective, collaborative energy, and proactive leadership. His focus is on strengthening ArchiTeam’s support system and helping the organisation connect architects across Australia. Sam aims to work closely with other board members and staff to foster ArchiTeam’s mission, contributing his knowledge while expanding his own capacity to serve the profession and advocate for small practice architects.

KAREN ERDOS

Karen Erdos Architects

Karen is an accomplished architect with over 22 years of experience, including 17 years in Sydney, and is highly active in advocacy and sustainable design. As a certified Passivhaus designer, Karen has established solid connections within the environmental and architecture communities, with a strong commitment to promoting sustainable practices among architects.

Karen's current involvement with ArchiTeam as an active member of the ArchiTeam Advocacy Committee, and collaborations with partners such as The Australian Passivhaus Association, highlight her dedication to the Cooperative and to environmentally responsible architecture.

Karen is enthusiastic about using her extensive practical experience, academic background, and previous board experience, notably with the Sydney-based nonprofit Pocket City Farms, to contribute to the ArchiTeam Board. She aims to broaden her impact by connecting with the Sydney architectural community to boost membership and foster more engagement with ArchiTeam's mission. Additionally, Karen is looking forward to personal and professional growth through board service, eager to diversify her experience and skills beyond traditional architectural practice, while supporting ArchiTeam’s goals in advancing small practitioners' interests.

REDMOND HAMLETT

WHDA Architects

Redmond is a seasoned architect with 18 years of practice experience, including a decade as a practice director. Based in Melbourne, he is highly skilled in client engagement, project delivery, and feasibility studies, bringing a results-oriented approach to his work that emphasises innovation, social relevance, and cultural engagement within the urban context. His diverse experience spans a range of practice sizes, with a strong commitment to community-focused architecture.

Redmond was involved with ArchiTeam as co-convenor of the 2021 ArchiTeam Conference. His governance experience includes roles within community sporting clubs, providing him with a foundation in organisational management. Redmond also has over seven years of academic experience, specialising in areas such as Architectural Practice, Contract Documentation, Urban Design, and Project Management. Additionally, he has three years of experience as an examiner for the Architectural Practice Examination Part 3 Interview, highlighting his expertise in professional standards and mentorship.

Redmond is now seeking a governance role within a not-for-profit or professional body, motivated by a desire to expand his corporate governance experience and to further hone his leadership skills. Joining the ArchiTeam Board would allow him to leverage his extensive knowledge to support the profession and engage with peers while building new skills and networks within the architectural community.
