We are excited to announce our new partnership with Resene, we asked Raychel Pierson, State Sales Manager, 5 questions to find out a little more about her.
Who are you?
I commenced working with Resene in 1995, working behind the counter in the store. I immediately loved the company, the people and of course the products and to this day believe I still hold the record for being the youngest store manager – at age 19. I am very much into health and fitness and have spent a large part of my life playing soccer for Metro Football Club in NZ and Essendon Royals in Melbourne, where I also coached kids coming through the ranks.
What do you do?
I am State Sales Manager for Resene, which means a bit of everything – sales, staff management, customer relationships and I still tint paint if its needed. Starting in the store in Auckland, I worked hard and was a sponge for learning. I was asked to take on the role of Architectural Manager and move to Melbourne seven years ago. With the foresight of Nick Nightingale, Managing Director of Resene and his belief and understanding of who our clients are – architects - my role grew. Four years on, I was offered the role of State Sales Manager.
What has been your most scary/courageous thing you’ve ever done?
At the age of 40, I packed up my life and moved from Auckland to Melbourne. My brief – to help the growth of Resene in Victoria. Terrifying and exciting all at once! Resene is a strong family-oriented company with high staff retention. Leaving Auckland was a tough decision - one that I am very happy I made.
Who do you admire and why?
Dr Stacy Sims. A researcher in physiology and nutrition aimed to elevate women in research, science, sport and ultimately life.
Dr Sims has been researching women and sport for the last 25 years with the memorable catch phrase, ‘Women are not small men’. I love her passion for gender specific research and outcomes that ultimately benefit women in training, nutrition and life. Realising and celebrating the differences between men and women and how nutrition and training contribute outcomes in such different ways.
What is it about ArchiTeam that made you want to get involved?
ArchiTeam appealed to Resene because of the market they service. Like Resene, ArchiTeam support small to medium sized practices, which I believe allows them to have focus and give attention to their members. Resene appreciate the hands on and personal approach from ArchiTeam and are excited to be coming on board as a partner.
